Today Mr. Bruns talked about WWI even more. He went over Wilson's 14 points.1. An end to secret treaties.2. Freedom of the seas.3. Free trade for all countries.4. Disarmament.5. End to colonial claims.6. Self-determination for all countries.7. Restoration of Belgium.8. Restoration of France.9. Readjustment of Italy's boundaries.10. Austria-Hungary would be given opportunity for autonomous development.11. Romania, Serbia, and Monienegro should be evacuated and restored.12. Turkey should be sovereign.13. Poland would be given their independace.14. The "League of Nations" would be developed.He also talked about the Treaty of Versailles. Military consequences for Germany. Germany's army was reduced to 100,00 men and the army was not allowed tanks. No airforce and no submarines. Germany had to pay 33 billion dollars back to Great Britain and France. Germany went into a depression. Inflation sky rocketed and it was crazy. Germany had to take responsibilty for the war. This was a big slap in the face to Germany. Adolf Hitler used the Treaty of Versailles to come into power. He said that Germany was going to undo everything the Treaty of Versailles did. The US never signed the Treaty of Versailles and we never joined the League of Nations. We wanted to stay isolated again. Not signing the Treaty of Versailles was a big mistake because WWII happened.
