the great white fleet sailed around the world to show our power. we werent threatening countries, but we were trying to say america is here and we are a high powered army. "speak softly, but cary a big stick."T.R. had that famous quote. its militar power is what the ppeak sorftly means. and cary a big stick means that the countries knew we were a strong army and people we scared.taft did not want to president and it showed. we started to invest in other countries and eventually we started to control them. we still do today. "substitue dollars for bullets" we would rather invest into the courty insted of having to kill them in war. we would control their minds.missionary diplomacy is trying to promote democracy in countries. we would not reconize countries that are democratic and countries that are not friendly. not going to reconize bad government is basically what it means. and example is mexico. latin america was very poor in the 1800 along with mexico. they had very unstable goverment. there was alot of overthrowing government. we had taken half of the land from mexico. we had a war called the mexican american war. we eventually got texas. 19210. daiz was in power now. he was proUS he was the puppet and we were the peppeteir. we took over the minds in mexico. we envested money and eventually took over the government. madero overthrows diaz and gets overthrowed by huerta. he is a thorn in our side. missionary diplomacy now comes into place. president of us would not help mexico. we didnt get along with them, wilson envades baracruize.
