Today we talked about the goals of WW1.France was after land from Germany and turkey. They wanted land from the losers. Great Brittan wanted land from A-H. Russia wanted land from turkey. A-H wanted to just self preserve. Germany wanted a part of France and Belgium. They also wanted most of Russia. We wanted to win the war. WW1 Woodrow Wilson was our president at the time. We declared neutral. We would not get involved. But then we eventually did get involved. We started trading more and more with great Brittan and not, Russia.The U.S. got involved because1: both sides were stopping our ships.2: Germany started sinking ships because GB would stop the ships.The main reason was the sinking of ships by Germany.The second cause was the Zimmerman note. This was sent to the Germany ambassador.3: the beliefs of war hawks.4: the trade with England increased.I think that wanting to win the war and actually winning the war is a big difference. But declaring neutral was a good idea.
