Today we started out by Mr. Bruns telling us about the progressive era. The progressive era was time during the late 1800's and early 1900's when reform happened. A lot of change came about to help to common people. There were four goals of progressivism. They were protecting social welfare, promoting moral improvement, creating economic reform, and fostering efficiency. Then we started the blog discussions.-What did the Progressives do to make factory work and work in general safe for the workers?Working conditions were not very good. Some people died because it was so dangerous. People worked 12 to 15 hours a day. Little kids were working in these dangerous conditions too.The law about working hours changed. People couldn't be forced to work more than 8 hours a day. The National Consumers League went around the world talking about workers safety. Today there is an organization called Osha that can shut any company or factory down if they aren't keeping their envirnment safe or sanitary. In factories today people are trained really well before they are even able to work with a machine. Back then if you got hurt they would just fire you and today if you get injured you get payed while you get better.
