Today we started on World War One. Usually this takes about a month, but since we are running out of time, we are going to condense WWI into a week! YAY!... Czar Nicholas was the leader of Russia. Kaiser Wilhelm was the leader of Germany during World War One. World War One started in 1914 and ended in 1918. Europe went to war constintly throughout this time. Imperialism was one of the causes. Every country of Africa except a couple were taken over. Asia was also dominated. There were three alliances during WWI. If there is an assassination, you would think the conflict would be between those two countries. The whole world got involved after the assassination. Militarism just simply countries building up their navies and armies. Why?-to protect from being attacked, or attacking. Made the world a very dangerous place because war could break out if there was a reason for the war starting. Nationalism is another general cause of WWI.Last cause, alliance systems. Alliances are friends in war times, other countries helping you out during a war. World War One caused in part by the two opposing alliances developed by Bismarck after the Franco-Prussian War(1871). In order to isolate France, Bismarck formed the Three Emperor's League in 1872, an alliance between Germany, Russia, and Austria-Hungary. Archduke Franz Ferdinand-A-H was going to be the next king of Austria-Hungary. Gavrillo Princip was not the only one who was planning to kill Ferdinand. He was under age so he could not be put to death for pulling the trigger on Ferdinand.Powderkeg-Balkan Peninsula has tons of ethnic groups here. They do not like eachother. There are a bunch of small little countries there. Back then they wanted to be seperate. They were at war alot during this time. WWI started here. The sparked the started the Powderkeg was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand.
