Today we talked about the rest of the semester. I learned about the big project over the 1920's and 1930's. We will have to do in our groups about chapter 12 through 14. My group got the causes of the Great Depression.Austin also finished his presentation. We bought the Panama Canal from the French for . There was three divisions of work. The Atlantic division, Pacific division, and the Central division. One problem they had was they had to go straight through a mountain and there were a lot of land slides. They had a train going in getting dirt and talking it out every minute. They would dig a bunch of dirt out but, the dirt was really sand like and when you dug more dirt just replaced it. On October 10 1913 a lake in Gatum was blown up, therefor opening the canal. The canal didn't allow really big ships to go through. They wanted to make bigger locks to allow bigger ships through. On September 7 1977 we planned to give the canal over to Panama in 20 years. The canal is now in Panama's control.
