Today Stacey and Tony presented on species extinction. Nelson would have been a part of this but sadly, he quit the class.Tony informed us that the gazelle, found in Africa and Asia is endangered, along with creatures such as pandas, and eagles.I learned also that the giant blue butterfly is extinct...And a shocking statistic: Half of the world's species will be extinct in the next century. I'm amazed and frankly, a little scared.I thought the presentation was quite nice.It was very informative. My only problem really...was that maybe Stacey needs too speak just a little slower so its easier to understand. All things considered, it was really nice.Oh, just a side note...the space bar on this laptop (15) is ridiculously sticky. You have to press it about 50 times before it will work. UGH!!The other group that presented today had the topic of deforestation. The slideshow was very elegantly put together, and informative.Basically, deforestation is defined as the mass removal of trees from an area. This can extremely harmful to the ecosystems. The trees hold topsoil in place.Without this soil, land would become infertile and mass hunger would eventually follow. This travesty also leads to the extinction of species and vast amounts of carbon dioxide in the air...the loss of trees basically effects every aspect of daily life.
