Today we are watching a movie about the Roaring 20's.The U.S was very wealthy during the twenties. The transition from coal to electricity provided for many more jobs in factories. People were starting to buy cars and it reformed how many people lived their lives. The drive-in movies and later on, the drive-in banks became very popular. The movies influenced many people and made them do things that they had not before.Jazz became very popular in America when the music started in the New Orleans. African-Americans were the people that created jazz. The music went north to Kansas City, the south side of Chicago, and then onto Harlem. White people became attracted to jazz, and they would go into the clubs where black people performed. Some people didn't like it, because they thought that jazz was more liberal and influenced young people in a bad way.Sports were also a big hit in the twenties. Boxing, football, golf, and tennis were very popular during that time period, because of how wealthy people were and they could drive. The women became more involved in sports, they could vote and have jobs, and they began to smoke and drink in public. This was the time period where many people started to rebel against religion.
