-Describe the major social changes that affected women during the Progressive Era.-What did local government do to reform itself during the Progressive Era?Prior to the progressive era political machines controlled the cities. They tried to take the power out of one persons hands and spread it to other people.Mr. Bruns showed a power point about Roosevelt and Wilson as president.Roosevelt- Extremely energetic and a great speaker. Believed that the federal government was there to help to common people. Used the "bully pulpit" which was him getting up in front of people and getting stuff done. He had the people behind him. He was a trustbusters, broke up a lot of monopolies. He also helped pass the Meat Inspection Act and the Pure Food and Drug Act in 1906. Helped pass acts to help our farmers with the railroads. Made railroads prices fair. He was a huge conservationist. Many people didn't like Taft, he didn't have the people behind him.
