-What did progressives do to regulate businesses in the United States?The Sherman Anti-trust Act was supposed to break up monopolies. The Clayton-Anti Trust Act was supposed to help the Sherman Anti-Trust Act eliminate monopolies. Before those acts they used laissez-faire, the government stayed out of business.-Describe the impact aid organizations had on our country?The social gospel said the people should stop looking how you can help yourself, but how you can help the needy. The YMCA was a Christian organization that stands for Young Mans Christian Association. Today it helps fund organizations around the world. The salvation army was another Christian group started by William Booth. It helped feed the poor. Today it does a variety of things. Settlement houses were first started in London. They were to help people who were in need. The first settlement house in the US was Hull house in Chicago.-What is socialism? How was it started in the United States?Socialism is an economic system where the government controlled the business's. They wanted everyone to be equal. The Progressives didn't like socialism, they though that it was being taken too far. Eugene V. Debs was a man who believed in socialism a lot, and he ran for president four times.
