Today is Tuesday. Yesterday was the semi finals dome game vs. Carroll as I'm sure you all know. It's been pretty tough getting back into the grove today because it feels like a Monday, and everyone seems deadbeat tired. Since Mr. Bruns didn't go to the game, he is unfortunately as energetic and upbeat as ever. I got a tardy because Josh is an idiot and I had to go back into the lunchroom to find my waterbottle which made me late for class by 15 seconds. Josh should get my tardy. We started back into the question answering mode for all of the Chapter 9 questions that we have to type and be able to answer.8.) What is segregation? What did the progressives do to help African Americans? Segregation is the separation of cultures/ethnic groups by the favor of at least one of the groups, typically the larger and more powerful of the cultures or ethnicities. In America's case, the white, landowning men were the higher authority. They had power and respect over white women, blacks, Native Americans, and immigrants. The African Americans were considered the lowest of the low in society. Black people could not run for public office, except within their black communities. Black people could very rarely interact with the white commnity. Buses, drinking fountains, swimming pools, barber shops, markets, schools, churches, and many many other things were segregated. Black children and adults had to go to their own schools, and they even had to drink out of separate drinking fountains. Blacks were often lynched (hanged) for violating any of these laws.I learned a lot about Teddy Roselvelt today. He got shot, he was a cowboy, and wrestled and boxed. I'm going to leave his other traits for later.
