-What did the Progressives do to reduce child labor?Prior to the progressive era kids worked a lot in factories at young ages. They worked 15 hours a day 7 days a week. They had to do the things that adults were to big to do. They would be whipped and if they fell asleep on the job they would get an arm cut off. Factory owners liked hiring kids because they didn't have to pay them very much. And a lot of kids parents were in debt, so the kids worked to try to get their parents out of debt. People went on strike to protest against child labor. The Keating-Owen Act did not allow things made by kids in one state to be transported to another state. Now today you have to be 14 years old to work and you can't work past 7 P.M. if you are younger than 16.Workers CompensationIf you got hurt or something on the job you would just get fired. During the progressive era workers compensation laws made it so that if you got hurt while on the job they would still pay you while you got better. Some companies started death benefits(life insurance) so that if your spouse dies the company he/she worked at would give you money. Today if you get hurt you get payed while recovering just like during the progressive era.-What is woman's suffrage? The 19th amendment. What approaches did women use to get the right to vote? Before women basically just worked at home. They got frustrated though because their input on things didn't matter. Women didn't usually work. Some did in textile factories making clothing. NWSA was a group that helped minorities to vote and have the same opportunities as white men. Black males got the right to vote before women and the women were really bothered, they felt like they were under blacks. The 19th amendment was passed in 1920 which gave women the right to vote.
