How it started

When the Spanish-American war ended, Spain ceded the Philippians from the US

Fighting broke out two days after

Americans wanted to annex the Philippines because it had commercial opportunities in Asia and Filipinos incapable of government

Some didn’t want to because it was Morally wrong and fear of Filipinos to be in National government

Others didn’t care

Most organized filipino resistance vanished by spring of 1902

U.S. forces burned villages, implemented civilian reconcentration policies, and tortured suspected guerillas
