Monday- Presentation of Spanish American War. War started because the U.S had mistakenly thought that the Spanish had destroyed one of their ships. Filipinos had fought against Spanish rule. For 10 years they fought but to no avail. Jose Marti was considered a national hero. He was a master for Cubans and also their teacher. The War did not last long. Battle of San Juan Hill was the last battle of the war. The Battle of Kettle Hill was the same battle as San Juan Hill but in different locations. Congress did not want Cuba to be under rule by the U.S because they felt empathy for the Cubans. They decided to try to take the Philippines instead. The Americans had won because they had more manpower and weapons compared to Spain. The Filipinos went to war with us because we didn't give them independence. Boxers were Shandong peasants.
