Mr. Bruns was late today at the beginning of class. He should excuse everyone else without question for being late on Wednesday. He told us about a new message board post and we all raced to try to post the first reply. I got the second reply in after Josh. I feel like a failure.Next Mr. Bruns began to talk to us about our next project even though we literally just finished a very lengthy one. This project will be over the Progressive Era which spans from about 1870 to the 1920. To start it off, we will be doing an assigned blog for next week about a certain topic pertaining to the Progressive Era. We must research topics that are related to the policies that were followed before, during, and after the Progressive Era.Josh and I blatantly called out which topic that we wanted to cover. I was quick enough to get the Prohibition. For those who need to review what they are doing for a topic, you can always just go to the US History message board. I never knew that there were so many large decisions, acts, and reforms that were enacted during the Progressive Era. Actually, I guess I never really knew about the Progressive Era in the first place. I dedicate today's blog's length to Erin who is gone today. She usually types a novel when it comes to daily blogs. I run a close second.Any of these topics can be covered with information related to your assigned topic. So, for my blog, which doubles as my presentation (as I just found out) will start by researching what states throughout the country were "dry", which allowed alcohol, and what the laws were pertaining to alcoholic beverages enforced. Next I will research what the laws prohibiting alcohol were, and how those laws were enforced During the Prohibition. Finally, I will research everything that happened prior to the Prohibition and what states remained dry and whatnot.Next week, we will all talk about our chapter 9 blogs. Everyone must have at least five sources. The book counts as a a source. After we talked in length about our chapter nine blogs, we began to review for our Chapters 5-8 oral speaking test. We didn't really learn a whole lot, just a review of what we already went over for the last couple of weeks. The only thing that I learned about was our blogs for next week.I think that the Prohibition was an interesting time for America. My grandfather had told me stories about how, during bans on alcohol, his family and other families in all around the county would simply make moonshine. It sounded like a pretty fun time, but everyone was happy once the ban was lifted and they didn't have to go through all of the hassle needed to make beer.
