Chapter 7 Section 2&3-mr.bruns showed us pictures-inside of houses were small and tight. many families would share the same home. rats were common probelms. they spread diseases and bit people. fires were very common. they destroyed towns. sometimes fires were a good thing, they would spread things out a little more and they also allowed newer buildings with better materials to be used.There was a major struggle between the rich and the common people. The rich held most of the power and somewhat still do today.-the pendleton civil service act required most government jobs to be given through a merit system based on test scores. the first of civil service reform, (government jobs) .
