Today jenna did her presentation chapter eight three. It was about segragetion and discrimination. She talked about how blacks and poor people had to take literacy tests if they couldnt pay the poll tax and she talked about if they couldnt do either of those that they had to go by the grandfather clause. Then she talked about the Jim Crow Laws.Then she talked about Plessy Vs. Ferguson.It was a legal case for the fairness of segregation to the us supreme court in 1896.They ruled that it was legal and didnt violate the fourteenth amendment.Black and whites could still be segregated but still had to have equal services.Resulting in legal segregation for close to 60 years.Southern state governments still never allowed blacks equal facillities or quality resources after the debate.She also talked about debt peonage. When a black person owed a debt they were a slave to the person until they had the debt payed off.Then we watched a video.
