chapter 5-1 The indians mostly moved with the food sorce and didnt really waste to much. Some did farm and stay in one spot. They moved west for gold and riches or a new start. They also had cheap land and to build farms and herd cattle. They kept moving the native americans west till the americans gave them the worst land possible. The set aside the great plains to the native americans. In the 1850 we wanted the land so we kicked the off. They tried to make the natives like us and that was the Dos act. It gave 168 acres to farm with families. The wars started by native americans because they refuse to become like us they went to war in the great plains. They white man tried to kill off the buffolo to try to hurt the lives of native americans. the battle of wounded knee ended the wars of the native americans. They quit fighting and started to become more like americans. The cattle rush lasted about 20 years. The cowboys had to run the cattle to market and around fields. The longhorn steer was the main cattle used and the brand them. THey drove them to the railroads to get them to the market. You had to fatten them up to make sure that they dont die on the way. They faced crossing rivers and dieses and outlaws and harsh weather. Thiey party after they got the cattle to the destination because they got tons of money and most towns were party towns. Buffalo uses 1800-15 million, 1870- 1,000, 2000- 200,000.Chapter 5-2
