Today in US History we talked about the Native Americans and the Europeans colonizing in the Americas. The Dozact was orginally ment to Americanize the Native Americans. We tried to take away their land.The Native Americans refused to be Americanized ane the War of the Plains was started. The Americans shot buffalo which they knew were important to the Native Americans. We fought many battles with them such as Little Big Horn and Battle of Wounded Knee, which ended the war.The Americans had to drive the cattles up from near the Gulf Of Mexico up to the Great Plains. It was very dificult for them to do. There were many barren lands they had to go through, the cattle could get caught in streams, outlaws could steal them away, they were threatened by diseases, and the Native Americans could have stolen them away.The open range was a wide open field where buffalo could roam. The open range was ruined by American farmers who put up barbed wire fence and barns. The Native Americans were angry with the farmers for taking away the buffalo's land.
