FRIDAY!! :)If a Native American group refused to "Americanize", we went to war against them. Battle Of Wounded Knee in 1890 was major battle against the Native Americans and was pretty much the last war against them. The United States government moved Native Americans from land to land. Native Americans always ended up having horrible land that was not able to be farmed.-Describe a cowboys way of life... all about the longhorn steer. cattle was big business. As soon as someone out east founded the cattle, everyone seemed to rush out eastward. Cowboys in the early years would "drive" them over land in large heards to sell them up north. Before the long drive to be sold, they would fatten them up before so they wouldn't lose too much weight and become skimpy. They crossed rivers and many cattle died when the rivers were really deep or too fast. Cattle died from Native American attacks, animan attacks, diseases, etc. The cowboy image was started by some mexican name, can't spell. They would brand their cattle to prove ownership. The Open Range was land where the cattle could freely graize. There were no fences or any boundaries.
