Chapter 8-2Expanding pubilic education-How did education change in the late 1800's and early 1900's?Immigrants wanted to keep there religins and make there own schools. Catholics wanted there kids to have a real catholic education. High school attendence was at a high. Those who went to high school didnt all get there diplomas. A boom of college admisions went up and more classes were affered. Blacks were in high schools now. They were poorly funded and had a low attendence. The freedmens bureau was a group of black men who tried to get funding for black schools. Desegreation Action, Booker T. Washington was the first black to get his doctren. Will Harrison was big o n education and his big thing was to work with kids instead of memerisation.
