Today Mr.Bruns talked about how we did on our tests. Almost 50% of students got A's, and 27% got F's. We are starting on presentations. The first presentation was by Rachel Schwery.--Chapter 5-1---Culture and Famile Life. If you poke a white person with a coup stick and they dont shoot you and you get away unharmed you get a feather.-Belief and Culture- They believed that one great spirit controlled everything. They would pray to a god for rain and stuff like that.-What the Men Did- They would fight in battles and made their weapons. The boys learned everything from the previous generation.-What the Women Did-The women were the homemakers. They would set up the tipi and take it down. They skinned and tanned the hides of the animals. They taught the girls.Girls were taught to do what the women did. They learned to decorate moccasins.The boys were taught by the men and made bows and arrows. They went on visions quests and they had to go on a trip and they couldn't eat or drink anything until they had a dream or vision.-Indians and Buffalo- The indians used everything from the buffalo. When the whites came over they hunted the buffalo for game and the buffalo started to decrease.-Indians and Horses- In 1540 the horses were brought over by the spanish. The spanish left and they didn't take their horses with them. Before the horses the indians used dogs to carry their stuff.
