The original mining camps were in Virgina City, Nevada, and Helena, Montana. The Government passes an act to let the Native Americans have all of the Great Plains. Gave restriction to the Easteners to the land. Ten years later the government broke the treaty and allowed others to settle on the Great Plains. Many Native Americans were nomadic which means the followed the buffalo heards around and never did actually settle. Never wasted anything, used every single part of the buffalo they could.-Why did people move west?Gold Silver and Riches. Cheap land. A new start. Adventure. Farming. Sheep hearding.
