Minoans - 2000-1500 BC, influenced by the earlier civilizations, named after legendary Crete King Minos of Greek mythology, known for trde on the seas, peaceful women known for having much higher status than earlier civilizations, known for art...Downfall - Around 15000 BC ended abruptly, they think it could have been an earthquake, or could have been over run by Mycenaeans
- Plato only known source of atlantis being real
Mycenaeans - 1600-1100 BC, Heavily influenced by the Minoans, much more war like than the Minoans, known for trade, kinda like pirates not liked by other groups, Athens/Mycenae/Pylos/Tiryns, independent city-states, fell apart due to war/internal conflicts
Dorians took over and were not as advanced as the other two civilizations

Trojan War -
fought between Mycenaean Greeks and Troy, began because of the abduction of Queen Helen of Sparta by the Trojan prince, paris, don't know if actually happened

- Acropolis - A settlement in a city on higher ground used for defense and a place to discuss politics
- Monarchy - Government ruled by one person (king, queen)
- Aristocracy - Government ruled by small group of wealthy landowning families
- Oligarchy - A government ruled by a few powerful people
- Tyrants - Powerful individual who seize control from the government (could be good or bad)
- Democracy - Ruled by the people, Athens had perhaps the world's first
