A zoo in Denmark had an "unwanted giraffe. You think that they would give it to another zoo in trade for something else. No, they just go and straight up and kill it. Then they take the meat and give it to some lions. This is just not right in my eyes because you are killing a defenseless creature for nothing.

What do you think about this? Is this another form of animal cruelty? What would you have done differently?

  • Great choice of topic that got a lot of discussion! I think your summary could have been expanded a bit more and the topic better explained in the process.

  • I think they shouldn't of killed it. Killing the giraffe was a terrible decision just because he didn't want to breed with other giraffe's. If that same zoo does this a lot it could be a form of animal cruelty. I would of let it stay alive because other giraffes are bound to breed eventually.

  • I don't think that the giraffe deserved to die. It should be classified as animal cruelty because they could have easily given the animal to another zoo instead of purposely killing it.

  • If the animal is sick or has a broken bone of some sort or other thing wrong then yes i could see this happening, but if they just do it because its of no use then they should trade it or sell it not just kill it.

    • they tried to but no one would take it and they couldn't keep it. It was until they had already decided to kill it when a zoo in London said they would take it but it was too late.

  • This is terrible, he was a young giraffe too. Its bad enough to kill the animal, but use it's meat for other animals to enjoy is wrong in my eyes.

    • Lions eat meat. It worse to just throw the meat away and let it go to waste.

  • That's awful. Other zoos or people would have it.

  • I think it was wrong to just kill it even with all the people signing to save it

  • Well its seems dumb because someone might have wanted it but at least they were resourceful and fed it to the lions.
