J.D. Moyer recently conducted an experiment to see if the lights from his computer and even lighbulbs were interrupting his sleep. For one month, whenever the sun set he turned off all the electronics and lights in his house (even the lightbulb in his fridge!). Before, when he used lights after the sun set, he would be awake until at least midnight. During this experiment, when he went to bed at 9 he fell right asleep and woke up feeling well-slept and had lots of energy. The concern is that the gadgets we have are fooling our eyes into thinking it's daytime -- and that's why it takes so long to fall asleep.
i have never really thought about this. im going to shut off my light and leave it off when i go to bed instead of turning it on and see if it work because im always tired.
That is so crazy. I am going to try that. I think thats true because with lights and computers it allows us to stay up later when the sun goes down. So, if we dont have lights then we will go to sleep earlier and get more sleep at night.
well that could be but it probably depends on the person too and how sensative they are. but if its like a strobe light or something you will never fall asleep.
well thats interesting.. i usually shut off all the lights and my phone is upside down, so really its pretty much pitch dark in my room except for the moon light. . . it still takes me forever to fall asleep sometimes.
