"You Saved Me 50 Years Ago"

In 1964, just about 50 years ago, Eady Rothstien was a 5 year old girl having fun with her family at the pool. She started to drown when a lifeguard, Larry Brickman, saved her and preformed CPR. CPR seems like something everybody knows now, but not back then. Few and far between had knowledge of the valuabe skill and the drowning statistics were much higher than today because of it.

Eady was looking through a family scrapbook when she found the name of the lifegaurd she was saved by. She looked him up, called him, and they set up a time to meet. They were both happy to see each other so many years later. They both agreed that the CPR was crucial in saving her.

I think that it is really cool for both of them to see each other all these years later! It had to be really neat for the lifeguard to see that what he did impacted someone so much.

What do you think?

  • I wonder if the lifeguard even remembered saving her, because I'm sure the lifeguard has saved a lot of people. I think it's cool how she went back to thank him.

  • That's really neat! It's cool that they could meet up after all of those years. If someone saved my life, I would want to do the same thing.

  • It is so cool that this lady got to meet the person who saved her when she was a little girl. I bet the guy never would have thought that he would get that call from her. If I were this man, I would feel really proud that I saved this lady's life.

  • That is very cool sh ego to meet who saved her life. She is probably very greatful for her life thanks to him. I am suprised it took 50 years though.

  • This is really awesome!! I bet he felt great seeing this girl he saved 50 years ago!! I wonder what made her look that up and want to meet him? It is kind of weird thinking that her mom wrote that down in her scrapbook!! He will probably take that to his grave knowing he saved a girl who appreciated it!

  • I am a lifeguard so I know how crucial CPR is to being a lifeguard. That is great that he saved that girls life! I think it's awesome that she contacted him and was very grateful for him.

  • I doubt this guy thought it was a big deal at the time: he's a lifeguard, that's his job. So he was probably surprised when she contacted him.

  • That's really cool! (: If someone did that to me I would defiantly call them up and talk to that person. (:

  • I bet it was a wonderful meeting. Seeing someone you owe your life too, im suprised she remembered it. it was when she was only 5. i have trouble remembering stuff from 2 years ago. crazy how wonderful things still happen this day and age!

  • That is really neat that she thanked him for saving her life!! It is amazing that CPR wasn't used all the time back then, you would think that people would know, but in today's society everyone needs to be certified before graduating. I think that finding him again was neat. At the age of 5, you know what is happening, but whether you remember the memory or repress it depends on the person. I think as an adult, it was neat of her to thank him, and know exactly how important it was that he was able to do CPR.
