Yosemite Fire

August 17 there was a fire that spread throughout the Yosemite Valley, catching everything on fire. This fire was already started when it entered the park. Being that the grass and vegetation was bone-dry didn't help at all. And having no rain to help them, firefighters got it all put out after it got 126,000 acres consumed in flames.

  • Marie,

Asking a question of the audience is going to get more responses. Remember that next time.

  • I think that this is actually helping the environment by keeping grass and tree population low. If there weren't forest fires to keep population down, then forests would become overgrown in some areas and most of the animals there would either die or be different. This is probably one of the ways nature keeps balanced, even though I do think we should contain them.

    • Containing them has both pros and cons, it maybe good to do that, but it could be bad if it's contained for over a long period of time

  • Do you know how many animals were killed a because of this fire? Its super sad how fast these fires can spread!

    • It didn't say, but I think there wasn't any animals in that part

  • Do you know if it was a man started fire or natural.

    • The article doesn't say, but I think that it was a man started fire
