As I am slowly counting down the days to summer, I wonder what woud happen if we did not have summer. Personally, I would go insane. Many people believe that year-round school is like having no summer; you are just always at school. I found this not to be true, though, and to me, year-round school does not seem that bad.
In the school system, we have now we have about 78 days off from school. 60 are for summer vacation, 5 for spring break, 10 for winter break, and 3 for thanksgiving break; this does not include weekends. In year-round school, they have 30 days off for summer break, 15 days off for spring break, 15 days off for winter break, 3 days for Thanksgiving break, and 15 days for fall break. In total, they also have 78 days off from school, not including weekends.
There is a lot of controversy about this topic, though. Many people believe if you only give students 30 days off, they will not have time to go on vacation, go to camps, or get summer jobs. Some also say that too many breaks are not suitable for education. On the other hand, some people say there is still time to go on vacation or go to different camps. They also argue that having these different breaks is just what students need. It prevents the summer from getting long and tedious and makes sure students do not get burnt out in the winter. Year-round school also allows students to learn more because teachers do not have to spend as much time reviewing.
Since I am used to the schedule, we have now. I think it would be hard to switch to a whole new plan. I do see the benefits to year sound school. Usually, in the winter and fall, I am ready for school to be over, so I think having a break would be a great thing to look forward to. I do not know how sports would work with the breaks in the middle of the season. I think I could get used to a year-round schedule, and I see it becoming more popular in the future.
How would you feel about having year round school?
Do you know anyone who goes to a year round school?
What do you think is the biggest positive and negitive to year round school?

I think that a year round school would not be fun and also it would be very stressful. I would rather have a longer summer break and have shorter holidays because then I can do what I want over the whole summer. No, I do not know anyone that goes to a year round school. Knowing what you are doing all year but not having a whole summer off.
I would not like having school year round. I like having a summer and a break from school. Like you said, I would go insane if i had to go year round. I do not know anyone that goes year round. Positives i feel like you would have longer breaks for like winter and spring break. Negatives is that you would have to be in school year round.
I agree, a big positive would be having longer breaks during the winter, spring, and fall. I think that would help with with students getting burnt out but summer break is still a big positive.
do not think year-round school is a good idea. The reason why summer breaks are fair to students is that we are not paid for our time at school. You could argue that education is a paycheck in itself, but I would not enjoy yeat-round school consuming my life if I didn't get anything else out of it. It's healthy for students to get time off as well.
I don't think as of right now that I would enjoy year round school, especially in highschool. Many people genuinely look forward to school not consuming their life 24/7 and I am one of them. Highschool has a lot of people burned out with the only push to want to do work is that in a few weeks school is out for a while, and I don't think 30 days will be enough of a incentive
That is a great point, by the end of the school year I am so burnt out that I need a long break!
I do not think we should have school all year around. Summer is the time where kids can have fun without the stress of grades and homework. If we were to have school all around, every kid would have constant stress and never have that break from it all.
I wouldn't mind having year round school, but also I just prefer that we get out for summer anyway. I do not know anyone who goes to school year round, as I don't think it's very common. I think the biggest positive to year round school is that we could theoretically graduate sooner. A negative would be that we are just in school all the time, and that's basically all we do for the first 18 years of our lives.
I agree I would mind having year round school because I could have breaks and I would stay motivated. Since I am so use to the scheadule we have now I would rather keep it like this.
I would hate to go to school all year. While we would have longer breaks, I would rather just get it over with and have a break all at once. Plus, the most exciting part of summer is not having to worry about going to school until a while. Having school all year round would ruin that. Not to mention I would like to enjoy summer without the stress of homework or studying.
