WWI

WWI was one of the biggest wars the US has ever seen, 20 million people died in world war 1 and I'm sure a lot more were injured, and yet it only took 4 years of battle to become the the greatest war of the decade. There were a lot of specially made weapons in WWI and 2/3 of them were bayonets that was used mainly by the french and germany. Most of the french used them more for hand to hand combat, but there were some that did use it for long range shooting. The british used mortars that was used as a cannon that launched explosive shells that would land everywhere and kill thousand of people if not, more. Mortars are like bombers in the sense that they both can kill tons of people at the same time.

        Questions

1 What do you think is the worst way to die in battle?

I believe the worst way to go out in battle is Getting blownup by a mortar or getting stabbed by a bayonet because you go through a lot of pain.

2  If the archduke wasn't assasinated, do you think the war woud've still eventually happened, or do you think none of the war would've happened?

I  believe that it wouldn't have happened if the archduke wasn't assasinated because I believe that the assasination was the biggest cause of WWI.

  • I personally think that being blown up is one of the worst ways to die because then your body piece are going to be everywhere and because you wouldn't know when the bomb is coming so it would just hit you out of nowhere. I personally don't know the weather ww1 would break out or no there really no way of telling.

  • I think that the worst way to have died in battle would have been getting lit on fire with a flamethrower. I think that If the archduke was not assassinated there still may have been a war happen but it would have been smaller. There were also a lot of things that happened after the assassination that lead to the war.

  • I think the worst way to die during the war would definetly be getting stabbed because you wouldn't die right away, and if you were blown up it would have ended quicker for you. I also think that if the assassination didn't happen there could have been a possibility of no war happening or the war happening alot later in time.

  • The wrost way to die would get stabbed for sure. It would take so long for you to fully die you would just be suffering and bleeding out. If he wasnt assasinated I dont think the war still would of gone on but wouldnt have been the same.

  • I think the worst way to die would be getting stabbed. The worst way would be if you got injured and couldn't do anything but suffer till you died. Getting stabbed would be painful and would be a slow death. I think that the war could've possibly still happened if he was assasinated.

  • In my opinion getting hit by a bomb shot out by the mortars would be the worst. Specifically if you get hit by it and lose like both your legs and an arm then just lay there and slowly die from blood loss. I honeslty feel like that would be the worst and most painful way to die in that war. I think the war would have still happened regardless of whether or not the archduke was killed. I feel back at that time nothing was really stable so eventually some other thing would have happened and fighting woud break out.

    • I agree, and I can imagine it takes a long time to bleed out so you lay there in excruciating pain for hours on end to even a full day. You are correct, everything was unstable and eventually, you may shoot someone then they shoot back and all heck breaks loose. It takes 1 misfired shot to someone and war could easily be birthed. They say it takes one second to end it all, which in this case is very appropriate, for example, the Boston massacre was birthed just because one single person yelled 'FIRE!".

  • Good topic choice Tony and good job replying. Your summary is a bit brief overall. Shoot for three paragraphs.

    • I'll make sure to make it longer next semester, I was trying to think of more details to put in but I had to do homework so I shut it down early.

  • I think the worst way to die in battle is when you're severely wounded but you're still alive and have to live through the pain. Another painful way to die in battle is when the other side takes you as prisoner and starves you until you eventually die. I think the war still would've happened if the archduke wasn't assasinated because it all comes down to hatred towards each other.
