There are many unsolved mysteries that occured during World War II. However this one is very interesting and shocking. Just a year and a day after the infamous attck on Pearl Harbor that sent the United States into World War II something strange happened. Obviously it being a year since the attack the American Navy was on guard just incase another attack were to occur. They noticed a unidentified plane approaching on the radar, and fighter planes were sent to intercept the incoming plane. But when the fighter planes got closer to the plane they saw it was not a Japanese bomber plane, but it was actually an American military plane. A P-40 was the plane and they had not been used since the attacks of Pearl Harbor just a year ago. They were planes that defended the Harbor from the Japanese planes. The plane had appeared to be riddled with bullets and the pilot was henched over the controls and was all bloddy like he was dead. It then soon lost all altitude and crash landed in a field. Rescue crews were dispatched out the wreck, but when they arrived the plane was going up in smoke and there was no sight of the pilot. The only thing recoverd was a diray that suggested the plane and pilot had taken off from Mindanao, 1,300 miles away. It is told to be one of the strangest mysteries in World War II.
?Questions
Do you think the pilot somehow escaped all the bullets on the day of the Pearl Harbor attack and was able to survive in the wild, and make his way back to Hawaii, or is this a myth?
Personally I believe it would be very tough to survive a month in the wild, let alone a whole year, especially in 1942. This is very tough to believe but there is a chace it's true.
Is it a coincidence that the plane showed up just a year and a day after the attack?
Why do you think the Pilot appeared to be bloody and dead? And how do you think he would have died after he got the plane in the air?

I had never heard of this but it is very interesting. Good job overall Nick! With a story such as tyhis, be sure to provide a link to the source that you used.
I think this would be possible, but I think he was being shot at then flew away and crash-landed somewhere. Then he had to refuel and fix up his plane a little before he could fly back. I don't think this would take over a year and a day to do though. Also, I would think by then he would be healthy and wouldn't be all bloody and hunched. Also, I don't know where the body would of went and how did the diary not get burnt up.
Yeah, this is a really interesting topic. I don't know how the plane would be able to re occur and how the body would dissapear. It's also kinda spooky that the diary did not burn up.
This is a very strange situation and I really can't think of any possible solution as to what happened, but everything has to have some kind of explaination. Is it possible that this could be some kind of messed up prank that the Japanese military pulled on the one year anniversay of the attack? I really can't come up with anything else to be honest.
I agree this seems really strange, and crazy. If it were happen to be a prank then that is a very shady way of pulling one. I wonder if maybe someone had found an old military plane, fixed it up, then took it for a flight. However I don't know why he would appear bloddy and crash land.
