The World Economic Forum in Davos is an event where leaders of countries all around the world come together and discuss the current world issues. It takes place in January every year since 1974 in Switzerland. I’m from Davos and this week is the worst for the local people during the year. The traffic is terrible, the military is everywhere, and the normal daily life is not possible. My school is a good example for that; a huge part of the building is used for presentations and you can only enter it after a security check. I’m against the Forum even though it is good for our tourism. Ironic in my opinion is that all those leaders must fly to Switzerland in a private jet to talk about climatic problems and other things.
Last year Donald Trump attend the Forum. This year he said “…it is nice to attend, but not necessary for the U.S. government.” The main reason why he didn’t go is the shutdown. He had conferences about who will pay for the wall and how long the shutdown will last. Many people say he didn’t want to discuss this issues with other countries. I think that also shows that Trump wants to stay out of world issues and focus on America.
Do you think the World Economic Forum is a good event?
In my opinion it is not. Most people know about the issues we have, and we still don’t change anything in our lives. The leaders could also just talk to each other in a video conference that would make it much easier and would be better for the clima. I experienced it for many years and the forum has many bad sides. The military must be outside day and night in the cold (until -25 degrees Fahrenheit sometimes), the people living there are limited in many ways for weeks, before, during and after the forum, and it doesn’t really show results at the end.
Do you think Trump had a good reason why he didn’t attend the forum?
I agree with the medias. I think he didn't want to share American issues with the world, and he doesn’t want to be part of other countries’. I think it is not an excuse to not be there, but I also don't think it would have changed a lot if he would have been there.

Friom the sounds of it, it sounds pretty cool. But, like you said, I would not like all the traffic and the military being everywhere. I don't think he had a good reason because isn't the reason they have the Forum is to talk about new things?
I agree with you, they can learn from each other, but maybe they could do it online.
I don;t think the forum is needed anymore because of all the technology and the media showing all the country's problems. I think he didn't attend the forum because he doesn't really want to have to focus on other county's when he has his own country to control and focus on.

I agree that he needs to focus on America, but maybe other people would have good ideas to solve these issues.
1. I think that one of the only reason our President didn't want to attend is because he wants to keep America's issues to itslef.
2. I think he had a good reason. It is not a needed place to go so he will be fine.
I think that the forum is not needed any more because of all of the technology that we have now and I think that Trump didn't hae to attend because he was focused on America and America's problems not other countries.
