Women and Children Not Going First?!

The cruise ship Costa Concordia lies stricken off the shore of the island of Giglio.

At least 11 people have been reported dead with still some missing. Some say it was chaos durring evacuation with no respect for women and children first. Some of the men may have let the women go first but there was no order, just people that were ready to leave when the rescue party got there. The captain had abandoned the ship and refused to help evacuate the people. The removal and body work of the ship will be a very long process and may even take a year or so.

I think that it is messed up that they didn't have the women and children go first and that the captain abandoned his ship to save his own skin. I am surprised that they are actually planning on fixing the damages.

What is your opinion on all of this?

  • yes its kinda the rule, women and children first. i guess our world is a little different than how it used to be but its still nice when people follow the "rule".

  • Have they ever seen the Titanic? Women and children first! The men can man up a bit and save the women and children first.
  • i think thats messed up that they are not letting the women go first
  • I think it should be whoevers there because why would you wait untill all the women and children got off if you can get off before they even get to a lifeboat.
