Ann Pettway stole an infant, Carlina Renae White, from a Manhattan hospital in 1987 and pleaded guilty to a federal kidnapping charge on Friday. She could face at least 20 years in jail. Carlina, who is twenty years old now, was reunited with her biological mother last year.
The abduction happened when the mother took Carlina to the doctor when she was just 19 days old for a fever. The mother, Joy White, claims that she went home to rest and when she got back to the hospital her baby was nowhere to be found.
Ann Pettway raised the unfant under a different name. Carlina also had the feeling all the way through her childhood that she didnt belong.
