will gun control stop violence?

Gun control refers to the legal measure that is put into place to prevent and resrict the posession and use of firearms. Gun control in the U,S, is specifically causing problems with the republicans who stand by the second amendment. Mass shooting have become more frequent and people have been placing the blame on guns. When Chuck Grassley was here he said something along the lines of how it is not the gun but it is the people who are pulling the triggers of the gun.

To be putting the blame on the gun is like saying my pencil took my test for me. If it were completely and 100% the gun then there would be a problem. Personlly I think we just need to be more cautious with who we are selling guns to. I also think by putting gun control in place is going to cause more problems then just making it harder for those with bad backgrouds to get guns.

With my dad's job involving a gun to keep him safe I may be biased to no contol but he is putting his life on the line to make yours safer. Guns aren't the problem, it is the people who own the gun.

Do you think we should add more restrictions? why?

  • I do not think we should make more gun restrictions for two reasons, one is because criminals will always have access to guns through the black market. and two is instead of making more restrictions, enforce laws already made so they are stronger. I think it is the person behind the gun that is the problem because a gun can't fire itself.

  • I think we could add restrictions, but I don't think its need to keep guns from getting in the wrong hands. People are most definitely the problem in this situation. Whether its the seller or the buyer. Sometimes the sellers don't do enough verification and the sellers just buy illegal stuff.

  • I do not think guns are the problem. I think it is the people behind them that are causing issues. I think they need to have more strict checks on people. So people with mental illnesses can not get behind guns because they can not handle guns.

  • I agree that it's not the gun, it's the person. If you put more restrictions on guns. People can always find other dangerous weapons to do the job. I'm not saying don't put restrictions on guns because not doing anything won't solve anything. Restrictions on guns might help a little bit. But people are going to look for alternatives. You can only restrict guns to a certain point. Once past that point, the restriction is going to anger people who don't use guns for violence.

  • Guns are definitely not the problem, it's the people behind them that are the problem. And your right, saying guns are the problem is like saying your pencil took the test for you. It just doesn't make sense. The problem is the mentally ill people that are getting the guns and using them, as well as uneducated people that don't know how to handle guns properly. Not to mention, the people that want to hurt other people with guns are going to get the guns wether its illegal or not.

    • I agree that it is the person behind the gun and i also agree that saying guns are the problem doesn't make sense. the mentally ill people need to get help before they purchase a firearm or weapon od any kind. no matter the rules we will always have people getting guns no matter what

  • I don't think gun control is going to stop violence in general because there are other ways people can cause violence. I think that people need to do a better job of making sure felons are put in a data bank so they can deny selling a gun to said person. People are the problem, in my opinion, because people could have mental disabilities causing such actions.

  • I don’t think banning guns is the solution. I completely agree with Chuck Grassley, it’s the people using the guns. Guns are used for safety, just in the wrong hands it can go the other way. I just think we need to be more careful on who we sell the guns to. People are still going to go against the law to get guns illegally if they’re already committing crimes.

  • I think there should be some tests to ensure the gun would be goign to someone who is mentally and physiscally stable. Almost all of the mass shootings I have heard about have been because of the shooters mental disorder. I think it's the people's fault because those people could use a knife and you can't put a control on knives.

  • I agree with what Chuck Grassley said, people kill people, they are the ones pulling the trigger and they are the ones who are making the active choice to end someone else's life. I think that the restrictions we have now are good, they just are not being used properly. I agree with harder background checks, but I do not agree with taking guns away.
