Why alcohol should be illegal

I feel alcohol should be illegal. Alcohol should be illegal because people drink at all ages even though there's an age restriction in some parts of the world . There are more than 10,000 people dieing every year from drunk drivers in the US alone. The drunk driving rates with probably get higher as time moves on. Although people do get arested from drunk driving more get away with it. Alcohol can cause health issues with us its unhealthy and when you drink it your just poisoning yourself. More than 2,000 people die from alcohol poisioning a year.

People drink all over the world. There are some people abusing their kids because their drunk and its unsafe for the kids safety. They drink more in different parts of the whole then in the US the United States has made lots of restrictions from age to having alcohol in the car or drinking any alcohol before driving.

Prohibition was the 18th Amendment which illegalized the manufacture, transportation, and sale of alcohol this Amendment was in affect for 13 years from 1920-1933the 19th Amendment was repealed by the 21st Amendment.

  • Emily,

This is a really interesting topic and one that doesn't come up much now due to the terrible results from the 1920's. I do think your summary was bit brief and you only replied a few times where wiith 5 pages you should have replied 15 times.

  • I don't think that there is anything wrong with alchohol in general, but I think that it should be treated like weapons and sensitive information are. I think that people should be reviewed to make sure that they are responsible enough to avoid over-drinking and driving while drunk and the like. This review could include banning criminals from purchasing alchohol or raising the legal drinking age.

  • No, I don't think it should. Alcohol is a part of America and our history. We should preserve that and not make it illegal. I would be slightly mad that they did make it illegal, however at that point it would become law. Therefore, you can't do much about it after the fact. I think we would see less alcohol related incidents in all forms of transportation. Especially driving.

  • I think that alcohol should be illegal to a certain point, I think that the legal age is just right that anyone over the age of 21 is allowed to drink but not minors i think if  they get caught they should be punished or something along the lines. I don't really know how Iwould feel but there would   be a ton of crime and stuff trying to bootleg alcohol. I think it would change some people for the worst.

  • I don't think that alcohol should be illegal because if you really think about it, alcohol doesn't do as bad damage to your body as other drugs do. You can consume alcohol and it doesn't have to be harmful, it's how you react to alcohol depends on how it affects you as a person.  However, alcohol becomes very dangerous when you consume to much but if you don't consume that much then your body is barely affected. By doing a little amount of drugs it can do a lot of damage towards your inner organs and other parts of your body. It would be very different without alcohol in our world more towards the adults because I think that's just putting another restriction towards something in our lives and we already have certain restrictions to our lives as it is. I think it would make people very upset by making alcohol illegal because that's what most adults do on weekends and to have fun with their friends. It would start a huge fued towards the government and many more troubles than if we would just keep it as it is right now and legal.

    • Even consuming a little bit of alcohol can damage your body if you drink a little every time you drink it will start having effects on your body. Yes, drugs are more dangerous, but alcohol will cause some damage to your body. Most drugs are highly illegal and you will go to jail if they are in your possesstion alcohol isn't even illegal right now but people go to jail because of their actions.

  • I don't think alcohol should be illegal. We'll just have another Prohibition act that won't work at all. People will still find ways to sneak in and produce alcohol to sell. It'll become a black market item which will cause a lot more bad than good. The justice system would have to be more strict and spend more time finding hidden bars and alcohol to punish people. I wouldn't feel any different if they made alcohol illegal. It doesn't really bother me and I don't ever see myself liking it or becoming a regular drinker. I just think they should have a stricter base around alcohol. They should monitor how often someone is allowed to buy it monthly to prevent alcoholics. Not only that, but they should also do evaluations on your mental health. A lot of people turn violent when drunk, even if they aren't drinking regularly. This could bring some good to alcohol, but not fix it completely. Making alcohol illegal will affect a lot of people in a negative way. A lot of revolts and smuggling will occur if we made it illegal. Most adults use drinking as a way for breaks and such. A lot of people will be offended if they make it illegal.

  • I don't think alcohol should be illegal but I think it could be better if they put more restrictions on it. I don't think I would care at this point if alcohol was illegal because it has nothing to do with me. I think that making it illegal would make a lot of people mad and upset. I can see the appeal of making it illegal but I don't think it is going to turn out the way they want it to.

  • I don't think alcohol should be illegal. I think banning alcohol would just make crime rates go up causing more issues. I also think that banning alcohol wouldn't stop people from making and distributing it. We should not ban alcohol like we did in 1920, it would just lead to more violence.

    • A lot of people now a days do violence if they are under the influence. The crime rates are up right now with all of the riots and breaking into the capital. I feel if they made it illegal some people wouldn't notice right away because of everything happening. Some people will notice right away and make a big deal, but if it stays like this for away people will start to exept it.
