During the first six months of 2016, over 200 robots were given to police forces through out the U.S. from our military. This number trumps every year in record, and doesn't account for the robots purchased straight from the manufactures.
Most police robots aren't designed for lethality. They are designed mainly for surveillance and safety. Other uses are to gather intel and bomb disposal, but robots are able to disarm bombs or take down an attacker.
On July 7, 2016, the day of the Dallas shooting that killed five police officers, a robot was used to kill the gunman. The suspect barricaded himself inside a parking garage, so police armed a robot with an explosive device and sent the robot in. This is the first time a suspect was intentionally neutralized by a police robot. The robot killed the gunman and allowed police to enter the scene.

Opinion:
I think it is a great idea to have this many robots on the police force. I think that we should put as many robots on the force as possible. These robots can saves hundreds of lives of police and civilians by taking the blow of the suspects. They can handle gun shots, and can be armed and dangerous. I think it's all about who controlling the robot to see if they are safe around civilians. The operating must have the highest level of training and experience. I think it would be very cool if someday in the future we had a RoboCop.

I think that having robots on the police force is a great idea, because they can save a lot of police officers lives. I think that if the robots are controlled only by experts, they should be safe around civilians. I think that it would be cool, but I would be worried that an innocent person might get harmed in the process of stopping criminals.
I think the advancement of technology is amazing and much needed. Robots also eliminate human error in policing or surveillance and that could potentially be veyr beneficial. I don't know much about robots, but I would assume that they have been fully examined for issues in manufacturing and are very safe. The idea of RoboCop is a little far fetched, but it could be a good goal to reach for.
I think that robots could really help the police force. In this day and age, people are becoming more violent, and having more robots on the police force might save lives. Unless something were to go horribly wrong, I don't see any safety issues with the robots being around civilians. It would definitely be a change for robots to be seen everywhere.
I agree with you that with the amount of violence lately growing and growing, the police forces need robots. Everyone should feel safe and confident, no matter who they are or what they are doing. If these robots will help save lives, then I think the police should use these robots as much as possible in multiple different situations.
Like every other great inventions this one might seem amazing but let look at what the long term damages can be. i personally am really scared of what might happen after all we have all seen movies about robots going mad. just reading this showed me how much power and thrust they were giving a device that could be hacked and programmed to do something bad. i don't think it would be wise to have these robots around civilians because if something bad happens it's going to be really catastrophic. no matter how modernized our world is becoming i think that this is too big of a step.
I dont know how many or little is good but I think in general there pretty good, they might be expensive but they will keep more people safe. I dont think they should be around citizens unless they need to. I think it is a good idea.
I feel that it's kind of scary because of the whole robots malfunctioning and not doing what they're programmed to do. I think that right now they would be safe to be around because that's what they are being used for. I think that RoboCops would be kind of weird and awkward to be around.
I think this is a good idea in some circumstances rather then sending in an officer send in the robot with cameras so officers can see what they are facing. I think that if it malfunctions civilians lives may be lost and I think a RoboCop is cool and would be good for our police force.
No because robots can do many things, but they can not do a lot of stuff either.
