Who Rules The World?

Nike has just expanded their athletic clothing line to now include....*drum roll please* a hijab! Now in case you didn't know what a hijab is, It's a head coverage piece that is used in for women in the Muslim culture. The head cover, called the "Nike Pro Hijab," boasts a single-layer pull-on design made from lightweight polyester in dark, neutral colors. The fabric's tiny holes will make it breathable while remaining opaque, a requirement for hijab-wearing women.

The development of the Nike Pro Hijab started when some athletes complained about having to use the traditional head scarf causing some serious heat problems. The design process took about 13 months and will finally be available for sale in the spring season of 2018. nike hijab 2

"I was thrilled and a bit emotional to see Nike prototyping a Hijab," Lari said in a statement. "I've tried so many different hijabs for performance, and ... so few of them actually work for me. But once I put it on and took it for a spin on the ice, I was blown away by the fit and the light weight."

This might seem like a very small step to others but coming from a different culture, it makes me happy to see everyone getting involved. After all, it's time to start celebrating the beauty that is Culture!

  • Great job! Be sure to include your thoughts into your summary as well.

  • The only day I celebrate women in my life is on mothers day. We go to my Grandparents house for Christmas every year.  A way that people live

    • If you think about it you celebrate women everyday! by helping out your mom or being a good sibling. it doesn't have to be a big party in order for everyone to notice but just living your life as a strong woman is enough. I go to my grandparents house too! It's really fun getting together as a family.☺️

  • I didn't celebrate international women's month. We always get together as a big family especially around the holidays. We always get together, eat, and talk about how each other are doing. Culture to me is what your family does and how you pass it on from generations.

    • It's not a holiday that is known about like Christmas or Easter because not everybody cares but just living your life as a strong smart woman is enough. it's good that your family can find time to hang out and learn more about each other because there is nothing that helps a family grow more than communication.☺️

  • I show other women respect everyday but I don't celebrate women's day with my mom because we are really busy. We don't have many traditions that go along in the family but we always find time to hang as a family. Culture means to me that you have special little surprises that you do in your family that you pass on from generation to generation.

    • I love the fact that you respect women everyday and it doesn't matter that you didn't have a party for women's day because everyday you are living a life as a woman and that's enough to make every women proud.☺️

  • I don't celebrate the women in my life. I don't really have a tradition for women in my family. Culture means you do what you believe in and pass it down through generations.

    • you might no see it but by doing even a small act of kindness for your mom, your sister, or even yourself, is celebrating the women in your life. do you guys have holidays traditions that you follow ? if so that is something that make your family a family.☺️

  • I think women need to be appreciated more. They're taken advantage of too much. We don't really have any traditions in our family, but we always try to hang out whenever possible. Culture is important to me, everyone is different and we should take pride in it.
