Does Homework Help Kids Learn?

I think us students get a lot of homework probably 1 to 2 hours a night of homework. Most students say it doesnt help them learn beucase some students just copy off of other students papers. Homework is over rated I think I think we should just have work in class so when we get done with sports or other activitys we can go home and rest and not worry about homework that teachers give us everynight. People would say homework is just mabey 20 percent of their grade and that might be true and if that homework dont help kids learn and the kids take a test and they fail it and then teachers think what did I do wrong to make them feel and they think to there selfs did I not teach it right.

I think that most kids wouldnt say it helps them learn but some people are diffrent and some say it does but there is two sides to this question. I think it does not but some student might beg my differ but why it does not help me I guess that the teachers expect us to go one class to another and they all give us homework and we are all stressed and that might not help us focus and we get the questions wrong and we dont learn from the wrong anserws. Teachers teach one class and they expect kids to learn 8 of the classes I think the students are overwelemd with homework each night.

People might think it helps them and thats there opinon and I respect it there is nothing wrong with beliveing if homework helps kids learn. Teachers give us homeworks most of the time to get us ready for a test not to make us smarter I think the teachers should step up there game instead of giving us homework I think we should do like projects or something in that sort but not give us homework kids are going home stressed beucase there is so much homework to do when they get home.

1. Do you think that kids learn by doing homework?

2. Do you think teachers give out to much homework?

  •  Good summary and good job replying back to students Haiden! This topic has been done several times.

  • I agree with you Jason there are two opinions on either it dont help you learn or it dont and I think it dosent help kids learn

  • No I don't think for some people that homework helps. I'm already in school for 7hrs a day, I do not want to come home and do more school work. I don't think it's to bad the homework that we have now. I like to get my things done at school that way when I get out I don't have to worry about it being handed in late.

  • I think that homework does not help students because if they don't understand it in class and then they have to go home and do it again by themselves is not fair for the students. I think that teachers do give out too much homework over all baceus all the homework from all the classes adds up.

  • I believe that homework does not help because a huge percent of kids are finding other ways to get their home done without actually doing it. Most kids use google or a friend to cheat. The amount of home causes people to stress so they then cheat to get rid of all the stress.

  • I think many kids who want to apply themselves to have the homework help them do. It is beneficial to those handfuls of students. In reality, most students look up or ask other students for the answers. This causes them not to really know the material and fail on the tests.

  • Homework can be helpful in some ways, like for students who are struggling. But if you already know the subject well, then the homework is pretty much pointless. I do think teachers give out too much homework, they need to tone it down a little. Homework should only be required if you want to bring up your grade or if you're struggling.

  • I think some homework is helpful but most of it is just extra work we have to do so we can get a grade put in. I think that most kids don't learn anything from the homework because they are just getting it done and turning it in so they can move on to the next assignment, If teachers handed out less homework we might actually learn the subjects for more than a week rather than memorizing the info and copying it on a test just to start all over again with the new subject.

  • I agree but I still think that it don't help kids learn but depending on the class might need more home work then other classes but it don't help kids learn

  • I think depending on what class the homework is assigned in, homework can help some prepare for tests and refresh their minds of what we did in class. I do not think homework should be assigned everyday though because I feel like about every other day I come home stressed because of the amount of homework I have to do.
