The article written by “Associated Press,” briefs us on an idea created by our President and Vice President. The idea presented before us and the United States congress is a new military branch known as The U.S Space Force. This new era could be created by 2020 while facing some minor obstacles. First of all, it would require congress to approve it which could take years, this plan would be very expensive requiring billions of dollars, not to mention it is very complicating. We would need new layers of government and lots of equipment. Because of this, I am not totally sure that I support the idea. In my opinion, our country is in enough debt as it is, although this is true, it would take us years to get to the point of creating this which would allow us time to remove some of our debt.
Vice President, Mike Pence, presented this idea during a speech at the pentagon. He stated the idea originated because space used to be a peaceful place but now has turned into a competition. He believes that it is time to prepare for the next battlefield. Meaning that for years now, U.S enemies like China and Russia have worked on space and tried to harm our satellites. From my point of view, this could be a good thing. It could reroute some of our enemies attention from fighting on human filled land to a place where nobody could directly be harmed. Mike Pence continued on stating that satellites are difficult to protect and we would need a top military general to lead the space command. The last time we created a new military branch was in 1947 after World War ii, which was the airforce. Nobody knows what amount of time it will take to develop this plan and make it come to life, but it’s time to make a change in our government and this idea could lead to many.
Do you think that this new branch of government is worth the money, and if so why?
What are your thoughts toward fighting in space versus on land?
How would the creation of the Space Command affect the military leaders?

Well done overall. I do think you should have replied to more comments from the last two days.
Even though I think that we would be safer if we made this space force because it would bring the attention off of us, I think that this would be a bad idea, because right now, there haven't been many MAJOR threats in space to our satalites, yes maybe other countries have tried to harm them, but have they made a major impact yet, no they have not.
I definitely think that the Space Force is a bad idea. We shouldn't waste billions of tax dollars to spend on a military branch that will likely never protect us in any wars. If the current administration is worried about the security of satellites, they should invest more money into the Air Force or NASA, instead of dumping money into a useless branch of the military.
As of now, I don't believe that this branch of government would be necessary. Our country is already in enough debt the way it is. I think we should be putting more money into our military we have here on Earth since America has had some conflict with other countries recently. I think that fighting in space would be difficult and cost us an insane about of money. For the time being, we should probably just focus on our military here.
I think that this branch of government is a good idea. However, I don't know if would really help the US in the long run because it would require so much time and money. Also in order for this to become a real branch lots of parts of the government would have to be changed and added. So, I think this is a good idea but a lot of work would have to be done to get it to be useful.
I don't think it is right now, maybe in the future but it's really not needed right now. I think it's a better idea than fighting on land, but it's still problematic and so many things could go wrong on the spacecrafts until we get more advanced. I don't think it would be a big deal for other military leaders, they would just have more people to deal with.
i belive that its a complete waste of money and if it came down to life or death i would be all for it but they would have to get something that would be able to move through the vacum of space not at all
I have to disagree with you. I feel like ,yes, it is alot of money but in the long run it will be worth it. It could end up helping our goverments economics imensely.
I feel like the new branch of government would be an absolute waste of money because our technology is not advance enough to create fighter spaceships. Right now the idea sounds slightly bonkers but in a few decades or so it might become reasonable.
I think it is worth the money because we can start going into space again and discovering new theing and we can also fight against other countries because some people think that is where we are headed next. I think it would be harder to fight in space since there is no gravity but it would be something new that we would try to get ahold of. They would have to get generals from other branches like the Air Force that way someone knows something about flight.
