As soon as trick-or-treating was finished on Halloween night, many of everyone's favorite store websites changed drastically. The holiday of Halloween brings about spiders, ghosts, witches, goblins, monsters, and it's signature colors, but all of the oranges and blacks were traded in for reds and greens just after midnight on November 1st.
The front pages of major websites including Target, Best Buy, and Pier One are now ready to "deck the halls" and have their sites decked out in snowflakes and stars. Even Starbucks is ready for the holidays- the infamous holiday red cups will hit the counters starting November 1st.
Christmas isn't only taking hold of major stores around the nation, but also Disney World! Christmas decorations at the major theme park will begin to be put in place this week.
But there is a very important holiday that lies between Halloween and Christmas, and we seem to be paying less and less attention to it every year.
Why do you think that Thanksgiving is often the "forgotten" holiday? What are your opinions on this? Should we be paying more attention to Thanksgiving or is everything fine the way it is? Why?
I definitely think that Thanksgiving is often overlooked, and that needs to change. Not only is Thanksgiving a time to give thanks (as the name suggests) for everything that we have, but it was also very important in our history. I think that advertising for Christmas should be pushed back a little further, and that would allow for more Thanksgiving advertisement. After all, there are still 53 days until Christmas (as of November 1st).

Excellent job Kara!
I feel like people get excited to get gifts and they don't really care about spending time with family and I feel like that's what Thanksgiving is about. People forget that their family is more important than the gifts you receive.
I agree, I think that this is the problem with today's society. People want material things rather than spending time with their family. It's sad to say, but Christmas is overtaking Thanksgiving more and more each year.
I agree! Thanksgiving is so important! It's sad that Christmas is overtaking such a special holiday, especially when Christmas is almost a month after Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving is one of the forgotten holidays because of two larger holidays, Halloween and Christmas, before and after it. Christmas is the largest celebrated holiday in America, which is why I think that it is so overlooked. There isn't much you can do for paying more attention to the Thanksgiving holiday.
Sadly, I agree. I think that Thanksgiving is dying out more and more each year. Christmas is important, I agree with that, but I feel that Thanksgiving is just as important!
I think Thanksgiving is overlooked by the stores because there's no way for them to make money during this holiday, or not near as much money as Halloween and Christmas. I think Thanksgiving is one of the best holidays of the year and we don't pay enough attention to it.
I agree with you! Thanksgiving is so important, and I find it sad that we keep overlooking it!
I feel like Halloween and Christmas are both very popular holidays. On Halloween people eat lots of candy, dress up, and even go to parties. On Christmas people give and receive presents, and Christmas is just a big celebration that makes many people happy. But I feel Thanksgiving is kind of something many people just do not know much about. We are being thankful on this day, and we also get to eat lots of food. But it just does not attract many peoples attention for some reason. On the day of Thanksgiving I feel people are thankful but everyone is just ready for Christmas. I wish it could be given more attention but I feel like it will just always be the way it is now.
I agree! I think Christmas is just becoming more and more popular every year, and this is causing Thanksgiving to die out more and more. I think this is still a very important holiday, but other people think otherwise!
