What are Mandela Effects

Mandela effects refer to a situation in which a large number of people believe that an event occurred when it did not. The term “Mandela” comes from Fiona Bloome, who had created a website about her recollections of former South African President Nelson Mandela, who has died in prison in the1980s. Although the records show that Mandela had not died in prison, everyone still thinks he did.

Some of the more famous Mandela effects are ones that are more chronically online and recent. For example, the brand Fruit of the Loom. People believe that there used to be a cornucopia displaying various amounts of fruits on the logo,  but the fruit of the loom brand has even come out and said it has never manufactured that design. It's an odd occurrence, everyone swears that the brand had to have had that cornucopia.

Another Mandela effect is the “Berenstein” or “Berenstain” Bears. Again, a vast majority of people think it is spelled with an “e”, not an “a”. This Mandela was just the company trying to edit the cover and hope for no one to notice. Some other famous ones are “King Henry III Eating a Turkey Leg”, “Luke, I am your father”, “Mirror Mirror on the Wall”, “Oscar Meyer or Oscar Mayer?”, and “Pikachu’s black tip tail”. Although a vast majority believe that these were different, there is no evidence of it existing

I believe that Mandela effects are on purpose to see how well people pay attention. I think this because of how the vast majority of people have this exact same image. Maybe companies are playing tricks, or just simply trying to make people forget something they wanted changed.

Questions-

  • What do you think the Mandela Effects could be?
  • Do you believe in any of the Mandela Effects?

  • Very interesting topic Chrissy! Your summary is well done as well. The issue is that you posted this on Thursday when a lot of people already had their five posts done. Therefore, it is a bit of your fault that no one replied. This part is worth 30 points.
