Weekend Update (9-9, 9-10, 9-11)

Here is your movies weekend update: Three movies opened wide this weekend, and all three of them came in below expectations. Contagion opened at number 1 with 23 million dollars, while exaggerated reports put it at at least 25 million. Also disappointing was Warrior with 5 million, with expectations anywhere above 10 million. But perhaps the non-surprisingly awful score of 1 million dollars for Bucky Larson: Born to be a Star is the most shocking, opening in over 1500 theaters, setting up one of the worst openings in history. However, the worst opening in histroy was also this weekend. The low-budget mess entitled Creature opened in almost 1600 theaters and only grossed 300 thousand dollars. Contagion starred Marion Cotillard (Inception), Lawrence Fishburne (The Matrix trilogy, Predators), Matt Damon (True Grit, The Adjustment Buraeu), Jude Law (Sherlock Holmes, Lemony Snicket's a Series of Unfortunate Events), Kate Winslet (Titanic, The Reader), and Gwenyth Paltrow (Iron Man, Shakespeare in Love). Warrior starred Tom Hardy (Inception, Star Trek Nemesis). Bucky Larson starred only Nick Swardson (The Benchwarmers, Blades of Glory). Two deaths occured over the weekend: Cliff Robertson (Spider-Man trilogy) and Andy Whitifiled (Spartacus TV Show). That does it for weekend update. And by the way, smooth move, Hawkeyes/Way to go, Cyclones.
