Wedding Fire

On April 5th, 2014 Firefighters rush to a call of a fire on the roof of the Lakeview Pavilion in Foxboro, Massachusetts.  This was not just any fire, a Boston couple had just said their I do's when they looked behind them only to see the roof of the Pavilion glowing bright orange with flames.  Jerry Cibley (the justice of the peace) said that he had just "pronounced them husband and wife" when he noticed the flames.  The fire did severe damage to the roof Lakeview Pavilion, and took hours to put out.  The couple was obviously devastated that the fire took place, but it made it much worse that it had to happen on there wedding day.  Everyone attending the wedding got out safely, but was left wondering if this was had bad luck to the marriage.  I think this is very unfortunate but do not believe that it had any meaning other than the building was probably not up to code, and that is why a fire started in the first place. Wedding Fire

What do you think the fire symbolizes? if this was your wedding day would you take it in stride and always remember it as a special day or wonder about what the fire meant?massweddingfire.jpg

  • Good job!!

  • It's either really bad luck or bad timing.  I don't think I would base if I was meant to be with somebody on what happened on our wedding day, but it is an important day.  I would be mad if I was the bride, but there's not much they could do.   That really sucks.

    • exactly it already happened and is not going to be changed so they might as well just move on and forget or remember it as just one more crazy memory.

  • I don't think the fire meant bad luck for the couple or anything like that. I do, however, find it kind of funny that they noticed the fire right after they said their "I do's". Personally I think the fire was just an unlucky coincidence.

    • very true the fire could have started as something small and grew until they noticed so it probably did not just spontaneously start after they said i do.

  • I don't think this would really bother me. I would have just gotten married and would be extremely happy that the ceremony was basically finished by the time the fire really started. It is obviously a good test on how the couple reacts under pressure though.

  • I kind of believe in thing like that. Maybe it was a sign. Its crazy for a church to just start on fire. Seems pretty unlikely.

    • I do see what you are saying it is crazy, but I dont think it will effect the couples marrige.

  • I wonder what started the fire? I don't know what the fire would symbolize. Maybe something good. If it was me I would be disappointed that my wedding was cut short. They will remember it!

    • The article did not say what the fire was started by my best guess would be bad wiring or something was left on. I too think it symbolizes nothing
