Was the Trojan Horse Real?

The Trojan Horse was a very well known story about how the Greeks miraculously won the Trojan War after 10 years. They used a giant wooden horse and gave it to the city of Troy as a gift for the goddess Athena. The Greeks supposedly hid inside of the horse until it was in the city of troy and waited till dark to attack. They eventually took over the city and ended the war. There is many reasons to think that this is just a myth. Some people say the Trojan Horse was just a battering ram that ressembled a horse or a siege machine ( a device that is designed to break heavy castle doors or thick city walls.)

The story of the Trojan Horse is definetly an interesting one and I think that there is a possibility of it happening but there is many reasons why it did not. I also think it was crazy that the whole war ended due to one gigantic horse used as a peace treaty, which does not seem very realistic.

Do you think that the Trojan Horse was real?

What do you think of the fact that one giant horse (used as a peace treaty) stopped the war after 10 years?

Do you think the Trojan Horse plan was a good idea?

  • Great topic choice Angel! I do think your summary is brief and that you could have replied a bit more regularly. -10 late

  • I think the trojan horse was real just because the story of the greeks hiding in the horse and winning the war has been around for so long t=and that's how we know the story. I personally think that the trojan horse was a good idea because it did get them into the city without anyone knowing.

  • I don't think that the Trojan horse was real, because a small wooden structure wouldn't be able to hold enough manpower to destroy a  city, and the Trojans wouldn't so willingly accept a "gift" from their sworn enemies. I also think this is a odd story because if the greeks were trying to enter the city they could've just laid seige to it and starved them out instead.

  • no I don't think it was big enough to hold enough people to fight and end a war.  I also don't think it would have ended the war that fast after it had been going on for 10 years.  Maybe it broke through the walls and then they were able to attack.  That might make more sense

  • I don't think the Trojan horse is real because when they brought it inside the gate I'm suprised they didn't try to look inside it to see what it is. It just seems really unlogical not to look inside a large hollow wooden horse. However, if it is real then I would say it was a good idea and plan because they got inside without suspicion and having to fight their way in.

  • I believe that it was real and was a very good idea to get into the town that they were attacking. But there is not a lot of evidence to back it up if it wasn't real. It was so long ago, that it would be close to impossible to prove right from wrong thousands of years ago.

  • I think the Trojan Horse would be real. I do not know if there is much evidence to confirm it or if it was just made up. If it was real that is a cool idea and help the greeks massively as they won the war because of this. If it helped them win the war yes it was a good idea. If it helps then it is a good idea.

  • I think it could be real but there's no evidence to confirm it was real other than the stories from ancient  Greece but if really was real it was a really good plan for them to take over the city because were able to get inside the town without a problem.

  • I believe that the Trojan Horse was real, It would be very hard to come up with a story like this. The history recorded by the Greeks has been very accurate, I do believe it is real. It was great strategy to use to get inside the village and take it over.

  • I belive that there is a very good chance that the Trojan Horse was real. Personally I don't belive that the Trojan Horse was used as a peace treaty but more as a way to win the war, which in the way did win the war. I think that the plan was flawless due to the fact the the Trojans suspected nothing and the Greeks ended up winning the war due to it.
