First off, who was Helen Keller? Helen Keller was a blind and deaf person who accomplished many things. She had been blind and deaf since she was 19 months old. She had a teacher, Anne Sullivan, who was also partially blind. Her teacher taught her how to read, write, and speak. She taught her from scratch with no prior knowledge on how to do any of those things.
Some of Helen Keller's accomplishments are: Flying a plane for 20 minutes, publishing 12 books, graduating from Harvard, and getting engaged. These are amazing accomplishments for a normal person nonetheless a person who can’t see or hear. During her college years her teacher would spell out every word the teacher was saying into her hand then, when she got back to her dorm, she would use a typewriter to recite everything that had been said.
Personally, I think there is no way that she did all these things being blind and deaf. The older generation really believes all of these things that are just so far-fetched it cannot be possible. The average person couldn't do most of the things she did. She might have been blind and deaf but then there is no way that she actually graduated from college. She might not have been fully blind and could actually see enough to make all these things easier. Maybe she was just stubborn and wouldn’t work with anyone but Anne. Maybe Anne was just using her to make money. Any of these possibilities make more sense then her doing all those things.
Do you think Helen Keller was a fraud?
Which of the things that she did suprised you the most?
What do you think was happening behind the scenes?

I started hearing students talk about this last semester. Why did this become a topic of discussion? Tik Tok? Any way, you did a good job replying to students but I really would like some hard evidence to back up this theory. Is there any?
I do think that Hellen Keller was a real person. She was deaf, blind, and lived in a time era when we were not very technologically advanced. Over the years her accomplishments could have been twisted and turned to make her look better. It could also not have been. It is very hard for us to know since none of us were there with her every step of her life.
I think that Hellen Keller was true in the fact that she was deaf, and blind. I do think that she made great progress, and learned sllighty but I do not think that she learned enough to accomplish these things on her own.
I do think Helen Keller was a real person and was blind and deaf, but I don't believe in all of her accomplishments that people say she has achieved. One of them being her flying a plane since first of all it is not easy for someone without a disability. I don't think someone who can't see can tell where they're going and crash.
I do believe that Helen Keller was actually blind and deaf, but I do not believe that she did any of those things she is credited with. It is simply impossible. I personally think that her caregiver, Anne Sullivan, was behind the scenes doing all of these things and making it seem like it was Helen Keller. I think her motivation could have been anything from fame to money, or a combination of both.
While I do believe Hellen Keller was a real person, I'm not so sure if she was actually able to accomplish all those things by herself. I find it hard to believe she was able to do all that without any help. It could be very well that some of these things were said in order for her to make money off of it, or that other people abused her and used her to make money for themselves as well.
I have gone back and forth on this before. I think she was a real person, I just don't really think she could have accomplished all of these things by herself. She could have had someone help her write the books. However, she also could have done it on her own, and that is the part that is confusing. Either way, I don't think we are going to figure out if she actually accomplished these things by herself.
I don't think Helen Keller is a fraud. I know some things seem impossible that she did. That also might be because people exaggerate things. I'm sure she did some of the things people claim she did but I don't think all of those things were for real done.
In my opinion, Helen Keller was not a fraud. I mean maybe people exaggerated a few of the things she supposedly did, but I don't really think that she was a fake. One of the things that she "accomplished" that surprised me the most was being able to fly a plane for 20 minutes being deaf AND blind.
I think she was real but some of the things she accomplished were made up to get popularity for her books "she wrote."
