Want Your Groceries Delivered When you Aren't Home?

A photo from Waitrose of a home delivery.

A leading UK supermarket chain is starting to give the option to deliver groceries not just to your door but to your fridge! You don't even have to be home they can just walk right in. You would give them an access code that works with a smart lock the code expires after the delivery is made. The supermarket chain will have the delvers wear a camera on their chest to reassure the customers that are worried about property damage, theft or anything else that could happen during the deliveries. This is also like the new product Amazon is launching called Amazon Key.

1. What do you think about this new idea?

I think it's interesting it's a new way to grocery shop and it could potentially save you time.

2. If this was closer would you grocery shop this way?

I would probably not shop this was because I don't think i would like strangers in my house the code does change after but they could still call their friends to come when they are delivering and do stuff while the guy with the camera is "doing what he's supposed to".

  • Good story choice and well done!

  • I don't think that I would do this because I don't think I would feel comfortable about people that I don't know walking into my house. I would be too afraid that they would do something that they are not supposed to do.

  • I think this could be helpful for some people because it could save people time and it would be easier for those who have a harder time getting out and going grocery shopping.

  • I think it's a good way to get something stolen. Or it could be a good way to save time and the hassle of shopping. If you could easily click-click-purchase your whole kitchen. I say why not but maybe they shouldn't just go in my house and put them away. I think that there are a lot of risks to what could happen. I also think that their is a good idea here just a lot of flaws.

  • I think this idead could do either really well or really bad. The concept itself is pretty cool, and would save a lot of people alot of time that they don't have. However, things could easily go wrong. If it was closer I don't think I would use it, I just don't like the idea of letting strangers into my home. So many things could happen that I have no control over.

    • I agree with you this can either take off and do well of crash and burn really fast. If it was people you knew from harlan doing this program would you use it?

  • I think its stupid, we are being lazy and not going out to buy them ourselfs, instead lets have a amazon worker that could possibly rob you do i for you, thats a fantastic idea. No, its stupid.

Absolutely NOT, I wouln't want someone snooping around myhouse and or possibly stealing something. Even if theres a cam on a person, he could do anything with that cam.

    • I like how forward you are with your opininon about this and a gree with you about how some people could use this. Do you think this might be a program elderly use more? If your neighbor used this and got robbed how you feel for them?

  • This is a very cool idea, but not very safe. It would be good for people are always running and are so so busy and don't have time to go to the store. I would not shop with this idea just becasue you can't trust people. The camera could be taking off and they could easily get stuff. I would not feel very safe with a stranger in my home while i'm not there.

  • I think that it is an interesting way to get grocceries and could be nice for people who are always busy. If this was closer, I do not think I would shop this way. Yes they have cameras an all, but I don't think i would feel safe with someone having a code and just walking into my house. You could order groceries online and when you get the chance go to the store and pick them up, without having to worry about people going into your house.
