Walmart is doubling down on robot janitors

Walmart is planning to put more robot janitors in there stores worldwide. They think that the workers they pay should be helping costumers and loading or stocking. They don't want to waste there money on a janitor if they can just get a robot to do it. According to New York (CNN Business), "By next February, it expects to have autonomous floor scrubbers in 1,860 of its more than 4,700 US stores." They are shooting to get robots in all stores by 2020. After that they plan to get robots to even unload there trucks. Read all about it here.

Do you think it is a good idea for them to be having robots do all the work for humans?

I don't think it is because that takes jobs from humans and it make us lazy.

Do you think they can get robots in all stores by 2020?

I think it's a big task and will cost a lot but I think it's possible.

  • Overall your summary is brief and also be sure to stay away from yes/no questions. You also should have commented much more frequently. -5 late

  • i think that it will take a lot of time and effort to get robots in all stores within the next year. i doubt it will happen because thats alot of stores to cover and itll take alot of robots to get the job the done and it depends on how many they want in each store.

  • I don't think it's a great idea for robots doing a lot of the work in stores, they aren't always as reliable as people are and may not do the job as well. I think that there will be robots in all stores soon, but probably not by 2020, I feel like it will take more time to get them in all stores across the country.

  • no its not a good idea because the robots wil take the jobs of people and then people don't make money and without money they can't survive becasue they won't be able to buy food and necesites.

  • 2 - I think that if it works out well in the stores that they put the robots in first, it is highly likely that they will have robots in all the stores very quickly. I think that they have the resources and the backing to be able to obtain those goals. I just think they need to take into consideration how they can make the jobs that they are taking away.

  • 1 - I think that the idea is good, but it is just taking away more jobs for those that actually need money, inlike the robots. I think that it's a good idea to have them, and might be better in the future, but there are still many people that need that money and would probably be happy to do that work.

  • Like you said this could take many jobs away from hard working americans and It does seem to promote lazy activities in the work place. I think it would be somewhat beneficial for the business since they wouldnt need to pay peopl and the robots probably work better and more eficient than humans would

  • I think that its a good idea for robots to do the work of cleaning up. It will allow people to focus on areas that need more attention, thus increasing qualities of different products. It could be possible for all stores to get robots, but it will cost quite a bit.

  • I don't think its a very good idea because its taking many peoples jobs away. if the robots took over a humans janitor job, then they would have to get a new job and that might take some time depending on the person/situation. I think that they will have robots in all stores by 2020. I also think it is a big task and will cost a lot too.

  • I don't think it is a good idea because some people need these jobs and it is a great way for younger people to start out in a job area. Jobs like these are a great way to start to teach kids how to manage their money. I don't know if every store will be able to get there by 2020 because I don't think every store will want to integrate these robots into their system.
