Dayna Morales was a waitress at a restaurant in New Jersey, and this started when she posted a picture of a receipt that said "I'm sorry but I cannot tip you because I don't agree with your life style and the way you live you life" on the bottom. The total on the bill was $93.55. This post viral, and she was sent money from people who felt bad for her. After some investigation they found out that she really did receive a tip, and she made the whole story. The family did in fact give her a tip, and they didn't have any problem with her. The real total was actually $111.15 (an eighteen dollar tip). The restaurant and Dayna tried to donate the money that was sent to a Wounded Warrior Project because Dayna had served two years as a Marine. However Wounded Warrior said "Wounded Warriors does not deserve to be associated with somebody who would cheapen the plight of both veterans and the LGBT community and slander an innocent family for money." In what ways do you think this could effect peoples attitude towards gay people?

  • Im sad this is how people will see her for the rest of her life but it is kinda her fault for making another family look bad. This is messed up but kinda smart on the other hand.

  • I think this makes gays seem like they want lots of attention from people. I feel sorry for the LGBT community. All they want it equality, and this lady is certainly not helping them get it.

  • This is strange. I don't know why any one would do this. I don't support gays but I still think this was just a dumb decision on her part.

  • i think that she should have had better judgement when she decided to make this whole thing up. it was very wrong to trick people into feeling sorry for her and sending her money.

  • I can't imagine how you could make up a story like this just to get attention or a little extra cash. It is sad that she took the situation this far, but I think that the WWP did the right thing by not accepting the money. Taking the money would have made their project look bad as it did Dayna.

  • This shouldn't have any effect on the LGBT community since she wasn't really a lesbian, but it probably will. She isn't a very good person for doing that.

  • So she was pretending to be gay why would she do that. Also why did she lie about not getting a tip, and also it's not required for people to give a waitress/waiter a tip it's just respectful.

  • Some people need to know that everyone is equal in the world. People should be treated that way. He may have acted gay which was the wrong decision it is just that gay people are the same as everyone else. It was wrong for him to do this though.

  • Good job Keenan but you only did one forum post!

    • Oh, I did. For some reason I thought I did two. Sorry
