Volcano Eruption in Japan

The largest volcano in Japan has erupted. The smoke and ash from the volcano was sent 7 miles into the air. The volcanis called Mount Aso, it stands over 5,200 feet tall. So far there have been no reported injuries but streets, houses, and vehicles are covered in ash. The alert level in the surrounding areas of the volcano is a 3 and 5 is the highest. Makoto Saito is the director of the agency's Volcanology Division said that it is extremely rare for an eruption to reach 10,000 meters. Saito also said there is a possibilty that it could erupt again.

Questions- Would you live by an active volcano? why or why not?

Would you evacuate your home if the volcano erupted? why or why not?

My opinion- I would not wanna live by an active volcano because if it erupted it could easily destroy my house. Yes I would evacuate my house because I do not wanna put my life into risk.

  • Good story but you only replied three times. Reply more frequently.

  • I would like to because the scenery is beautiful and it would be kind of cool, but there always a chance it could erupt and I would loose all my stuff so it would depend.

Yes, I would like to keep myself and my loved ones out of the way of harm.

    1. On one hand, I think it would be really cool to live next to a volcano, but on the other hand, I'm sure the insurance prices would be very costly and there's always the liability issue if the volcano did erupt.
    2. Yes, otherwise I would be directly putting my family and myself into harm.
  • No because people say that they can tell when they erupt but I think that they can erupt at any time and have no warning. I would not like to live close to a volcano because when they blow they can cause lots of damage. Yes I would drive as far away as I needed to live.

  • I would not I think its to risky of living. I would evacuate ahead of time if I had the chance but if I didn't have the chance I think I would stay inside.

  • I would not want to live by a volcano, because it would too much work to keep evacuating. Which answers the second question too.

  • I don't think I'd like to live by an active volcano mostly because of the risk associated with it if it happened to erupt.  I also think that living near a volcano that emits smoke and ash can affect your health in a negative way.  However, I think it'd be extremely cool to visit a volcano! I would evacuate my home to stay safe and take precautions to make sure that minimal damage is done to my house.

  • I think it would be very cool to live next to an active volcano and have that sense of adventure at all times, but I don't think I would like having all my stuff destroyed at any moment. There are pro's and con's of living next to an active volcano. Yes I would to keep my family safe and to keep my precious belongings safe. I know stuff doesn't matter but starting from scratch would suck.

  • I think it would be cool to live next to an active volcano but far enough away that if it were to erupt my home would experience minimal damage. I would no doubt evacuate because not only is the lava dangerous but the smoke and sh the shoots much farther can cause just as much damage.

  • I would not want to live by an active volcano because it could ruin my home. I would definitely evacuate if there was a chance of it erupting or was going to erupt for my safety.
